Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Adventist Community Center of Influence.

In a momentous event that signals the beginning of a new era for the Riverside Nairobi community, the Adventist Church led by the General Conference Treasurer, Elder Paul Douglas and the East-Central Africa Division President, Dr. Blasious Ruguri, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new Adventist Community Center storey building. This state-of-the-art facility is set to serve as a hub for spiritual growth, community services and educational activities, embodying the Division’s commitment to holistic development and outreach.

Held under a bright, clear sky, the ceremony was attended by a diverse crowd of Departmental heads from East-Central Africa Division, East-Kenya Union officers, West Kenya Union officers, contractors and enthusiastic residents and Church members. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and hope as attendees gathered to witness the start of a project that promises to transform lives and strengthen community bonds.

Pastor Yohannes Olana, the ECD Treasurer, opened the ceremony, asking God for blessings and guidance as the construction of the project begins. “This center will be more than just a building,” he said. “It will be a beacon of hope, a place where people can find support, learn and grow together.”

The event featured speeches from key leaders who have been instrumental in bringing the project to fruition. The Project Manager highlighted the collaborative efforts between the church and the Riverside community to ensure success of this project “This community center is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together towards a common goal,” he remarked. “It will provide invaluable resources and opportunities for the residents here as well as the Adventist community worldwide”

Pastor Blasious Ruguri, shared insights into the planning process and the vision behind the center. “We have designed this facility with the needs of our community in mind. Our goal is to create a space that caters to the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of everyone who walks through its doors.”

The highlight of the ceremony was the symbolic act of breaking ground. Church leaders took up the shovels, turning over the first layer of soil, symbolizing the inclusive nature of the Center’s mission.

Elder Paul Douglas led a prayer of dedication, asking for blessings on the construction process and the future of the Adventist Center of Influence. “May this place be a light in our community, a place where everyone feels welcome and supported,” he prayed.
