Presidential

The role of the church administration, and especially that of the president, is to provide general spiritual and administrative guidance for the functioning of the East Central Africa Division offices and all of its subsidiary organizational units and institutions. The presidential leadership role also includes staff development and strategic planning. He prepares and presides over executive committee meetings, and he counsels the officers of unions, institutions and divisional departments.

The presidential office of the East Central Africa Division values and appreciates each member of our diverse and vibrant church family across our eleven-country territory. We are privileged to serve amidst a tapestry of cultures, languages, and traditions that enrich our collective journey in faith.

At the core of our mission lies a firm commitment to fostering unity within our church. We believe that unity not only strengthens our resolve but also amplifies our impact in advancing God’s kingdom. Together, united in purpose and spirit, we achieve significant milestones for the divine cause we uphold.

Our division spans Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia. This multicultural diversity is a testament to the richness of God’s creation and serves as a powerful witness to His inclusive love for all peoples.

English and French serve as our official languages, facilitating seamless communication and understanding among our members. This linguistic diversity underscores our commitment to effective dialogue and cooperation across borders for mission.

The administrative units of our division, including unions, conferences, and fields, form the operational backbone of our mission. Guided by the presidential office, these units work diligently to ensure strategic leadership and support for our church’s ministries and initiatives.

Moreover, our educational institutions, hospitals, and centers of influence play pivotal roles in extending our mission to meet various communities. These institutions serve as beacons of hope and service, embodying the compassionate ministry of Jesus Christ.

ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency)

In addition to our church ministries, we partner with ADRA, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency. ADRA plays a vital role in our commitment to community care and well-being, providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and disaster relief to those in need across our region. Through ADRA, we demonstrate Christ’s love in practical ways, addressing social issues and empowering individuals and communities to build a better future.

Maranatha International

Maranatha International is another valued partner in our mission efforts. Their dedicated work in the construction and renovation of churches, schools, and other facilities has greatly enhanced our ability to reach communities with the gospel message. Their projects not only provide physical infrastructure but also foster spiritual growth and community development, reflecting the holistic mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mission

Mission remains paramount in all our endeavors. Every member is encouraged to actively participate in spreading the gospel message and engaging in acts of service and compassion. We utilize all available mediums, including electronic media, to reach the world with the gospel. Well-coordinated evangelistic campaigns such as ECD Homecoming impact, Net events (e.g. Hope for Africa), and others are integral to our strategy. Our goal is to double our membership by the end of the quinquennium (2025), reflecting our commitment to expanding the reach and impact of our mission initiatives.

As we journey together, let us continue to uphold one another in prayer and unity. May the Holy Spirit guide and empower us as we strive to fulfill the Great Commission and prepare hearts and minds for the soon return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Revelation 14:6-7 from the King James Version (KJV):

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”
